Xenos d2e Platform™ Software Enhances Customer Relationship Management Strategy at ING ReliaStar

Large national life insurer selects Xenos' data to e-content solution

Xenos' software transforms customer correspondence for the Web

TORONTO, Ontario, November 30, 2000 - ReliaStar Life Insurance Company, now marketing as ING ReliaStar, has selected software from Xenos (TSE: XNS), the data to e-content companyT, to enhance its customer relationship management (CRM) strategy.

To provide better service to customers as part of the new group, ING ReliaStar sought a software solution to transform over 3 million printed pages of customer correspondence a year to electronic content for its customer service representatives (CSRs) to access. Following an extensive evaluation process, the company selected the Xenos d2e Platform™.

"One of the biggest challenges we faced was to centralize access to diverse information coming from multiple output streams and locations," said Juan Paz, Imaging Systems Program Manager at ING ReliaStar. "Using the Xenos d2e Platform, we have been able to transform these complex outputs into TIFF images and load them into our Optika eMedia system for access by our reps. Over and above the cost savings we expect from more efficient customer relationship management, we will save around US$143,000 per year by not printing, scanning, indexing and filing 3 million pages."

The Xenos d2e Platform has a component-based architecture, enabling ReliaStar Life Insurance Company to select the appropriate technology to meet its data to e-content needs - in this case, a Meta2Bit transform to convert Xerox Metacode to a TIFF image format with a TDIK (Transform Developers Integration Kit) option.

ING ReliaStar evaluated products from a number of vendors before selecting Xenos' d2e solution. "Alternative technologies were either incomplete, didn't meet our needs, or were too expensive," said Rob Pierson, ING ReliaStar's project leader. "Xenos was able to provide exactly what we wanted. Its solution is cost-effective and easy to support, and we have been able to integrate it easily with our Optika image distribution system."

"The Xenos solution is highly scalable and has the advantage of being able to run on multiple platforms," said Steve Martin, programmer at ING ReliaStar. "While we're currently running the software on our mainframe, we plan to transform other output streams, such as PCL, running on local NT servers in the future."

Glen Manchester, President and CEO of Xenos, said: "In the fast moving and highly competitive insurance industry, merger and acquisition is becoming more widespread, and companies need to be able to re-engineer their existing business processes easily and cost effectively to maximize customer focus in the Internet economy. ING ReliaStar's ability to transform its existing output streams to e-content using our solution will enable the company to enhance its customer relationships and reduce costs."
