eircom selects Xenos software for eChannel Project

Presentment of bills online enhances customer relationships

TORONTO, Ontario, December 11, 2000 - eircom plc (NYSE: EIR), Ireland's largest communications company, has selected software from Xenos (TSE: XNS), the data to e-content companyT, as part of a major e-Channel Project designed to deliver printed bills to customers electronically via the Web.

eircom, Ireland's principal provider of fixed line and mobile voice and data telecommunications services in Ireland, selected the Xenos d2e Platform to transform the existing data in its printed bills to e-content for delivery via the Internet.

"As part of our CRM (customer relationship management) Programme, designed to reinforce our market leadership and exploit growth opportunities, we embarked on a major e-Channel Project," said Stefan Albertsson, eCRM Project Manager at eircom. "We recognized that Xenos' software would help us replicate existing paper bills online, thereby improving customer service and loyalty, while reducing operating costs and increasing revenues."

With IBM Global Services providing the infrastructure for the project, eircom selected the Xenos d2e Platform to transform the existing data contained in its printed bills into Adobe PDF format, and feed it into Broadvision's Web content personalization platform. This integrated solution enables eircom to leverage information to create sustained, personalized online customer relationships.

"The integration capabilities of the Xenos d2e Platform meant we were able to implement a solution in just one month, allowing us to go live online within our planned timescales," added Albertsson. "That says a lot about the integrity and ease of use of the software and the support we received from Xenos."

Glen Manchester, President and CEO of Xenos, said: "As organizations such as eircom move their content online, Xenos' unique component-based architecture allows integrators such as IBM Global Services to architect a solution that meets customer need. Interoperability with products from leading vendors such as Broadvision enables a total solution to be implemented easily and cost-effectively."
