Xenos software supports ACORD XML standards
TORONTO, Ontario, April 8 2003. Xenos (TSX: XNS), the data to e-content company™, today announced that it has joined the US-based Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development (ACORD), a global, non profit insurance association whose mission is to facilitate the development and use of standards for the insurance, reinsurance and related financial services industries.
Standards are sets of rules and guidelines that provide a common framework for communication. ACORD Standards allow different companies to transact business electronically with agents, brokers and other data partners in the insurance, reinsurance and related financial services industries. They serve as a common communication method for use by multiple parties, thereby increasing the efficiency of the entire industry. The implementation of standards-based solutions is an industry-wide strategy.
ACORD XML Standards enable these business benefits:
Xenos has incorporated the ACORD XML standards into its software to benefit the insurance industry. XML is an open industry standard developed by the World Wide Web Consortium to facilitate the exchange of structured data between businesses and applications over the Internet.
"We are pleased that Xenos has joined ACORD, " said Ronald Dudley, Vice President, Standards of ACORD. "Xenos has clearly seen the value of incorporating the ACORD standards into its software and services, meeting the strategic requirements of insurance companies to support e-business and online customer self-service on the WEB."
"The ACORD standards are driving improved industry efficiencies and systems interoperability. Xenos has already implemented the ACORD XML standards," said Jim Farmer, President and COO of Xenos. "We are seeing increased demand by insurance companies for ACORD compliant software solutions and are delivering solutions to meet their strategic customer requirements."
Based in New York and with offices in London, ACORD, the Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development, (www.acord.org), is a global, nonprofit insurance association whose mission is to facilitate the development and use of standards for the insurance, reinsurance and related financial services industries. ACORD accomplishes its mission by remaining an objective, independent advocate for sharing information among diverse platforms. ACORD Standards and services improve efficiency and expand market reach. Affiliated with ACORD are hundreds of insurance and reinsurance companies, and thousands of agents and brokers, related financial services organizations, software providers, and industry organizations worldwide.
