Xenos unveils major enhancements with d2e Platform™ version 5.3

Major enhancements in e-business integration for .NET and Java-based web services, HTML documents, print-to-print applications, performance, color, and cross-platform enhanced PDF web presentment, fidelity and security

TORONTO, Ontario, September 16, 2003 - Xenos Group Inc. (TSX: XNS), the data to e-content company, today announced the release of version 5.3 of its Xenos d2e Platform software product with key enhancements that solve a wide range of strategic business problems for high-volume print and e-business solutions. Major enhancements have been made for e-business integration for .NET and Java-based web services, HTML documents, print-to-print applications, performance, color, and cross-platform enhanced PDF web presentment, fidelity and security.

A growing number of Xenos customers require flexible e-business solutions for scalable, dynamic web-based document presentation in PDF, HTML or XML. This latest version enables customers to easily integrate d2e Platform, using the new Xenos d2eCOM component with byte-streaming, for Windows applications in Microsoft IIS, .NET and Visual Basic environments. This complements the Xenos d2e Java API released in version 5.2.

Jim Farmer, Xenos President and COO, stated "This release of Xenos d2e Platform v5.3 increases the flexibility for our customers to rapidly integrate Xenos solutions for print transformation and for document repurposing, archiving and presentment, especially within Java-based web services and .NET environments."

One of the problems organizations face in presenting customer statements and invoices on the Internet in HTML format, is that they were designed for paper and not for HTML on the Web. Xenos d2e Platform v5.3 enables them to re-purpose documents by changing or hiding information not designed for Web use, such as barcodes, and optimizing the HTML for fast end-user display. Xenos d2e Platform HTML output has been significantly enhanced with improved compression and image or text replacement enabling customized HTML documents to be created with data extracted from the input printstream using d2e Platform's powerful Intelligent Document Control engine.

Xenos d2e Platform v5.3 also addresses new requirements of the high-volume printing market. Major print service bureaus worldwide have customer demands for increased productivity and for rapidly evolving print requirements. In response, d2e Platform v5.3 provides faster performance, faster image handling, parallel processing and extended color and vector graphics capability. New supported features include outline AFP fonts, highlight Metacode color, PCL color vector graphics, ACIF resource creation, Metacode forms handling and Metacode reprinting from archives, among many others.

For Internet document presentment in PDF, Xenos d2e Platform v5.3 adds cross-platform support for advanced Adobe PDF features for document fidelity and security. These include high-quality complex vector graphics output, 128-bit encryption, linearization and in-memory processing for faster Web viewing. Other key features added, are creation date stamp for security and version control, and dynamic URLS based on data extracted from the page to enable 1-to-1 marketing links from the document. Supported platforms for these powerful features now include IBM MVS mainframe with Unix Systems Services, AIX, HP/UX and Linux as well as Windows NT/2000/XP.
