Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company Web Enables Agents With Xenos GoXML™

New Solution Provides Improved Information Access and Enhanced ACORD Capabilities

TORONTO, Ontario, August 31, 2004 - Xenos Group Inc. (TSX: XNS), the data to e-content companyT, today announced the successful implementation of Xenos' GoXML Integration Solution with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company. The new system provides field agents with real-time access to information and ACORD based insurance policy generation. With more streamlined processes, GoXML will increase Grinnell's competitiveness, efficiency and customer satisfaction while reducing IT overhead costs with a single, open-standards based platform across the company.

Based in Iowa, Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance has protected the assets of farming communities throughout the Midwest since 1909. To help a team of nearly 4,000 independent agents remain competitive in today's insurance market, Grinnell chose Xenos' GoXML solution to accelerate web-based transactions and provide instant access to business critical information for faster service delivery.

"Our agents conduct business in a highly competitive industry," said Carla Kelling, Assistant Vice President of Information Technology, Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company. "Expecting a client to wait for policies or information can result in lost business, so there's a definite need for faster transactions. GoXML allows agents to process quotes and customer account applications and receive an instantaneous response without ever leaving the client's side."

Simplifying ACORD updates

The Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development (ACORD) helps insurance, reinsurance and financial service industries share information through the use of standardized documents or ACORD Forms. With over 450 ACORD Forms approved for use throughout the U.S., the ability for agents to send and receive them over the Internet is crucial. As such, the integration of GoXML into Grinnell's existing infrastructure has also helped the company manage ACORD compliance issues.

Previously, changes to an ACORD Form, no matter how simple, required a costly and time consuming reprogram of Grinnell's COBOL system. If changes were frequent, reprogramming took longer and interruptions were frequent. Because GoXML comes complete with a powerful visual mapping interface which eliminates custom coding, ACORD Form changes are more easily and quickly adapted, without changing the legacy programs.

Ease of integration within budgets

At any given point, nearly 4,000 agents throughout the Midwest rely on Grinnell's IT backbone for information. Finding a transaction processing system that easily integrated without disrupting day-to-day activities was vital to Grinnell's agents and IT department. The company chose GoXML for its ease of installation and compatibility with existing applications. In turn, this translated into fewer professional services hours spent on implementing the solution.

"Insurance companies like Grinnell are seeking ways to improve productivity within their existing IT budgets," said Bill Kurtz, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Xenos. "This is a great example of how GoXML integrates with legacy systems and provides field agents with greater agility by providing fast access to web-based information."

As Grinnell's infrastructure needs evolve, Xenos will continue working with them to meet their requirements.
