Port infolink Uses Xenos GoXML In Port Community System
TORONTO, Ontario, April 20, 2005 - Xenos Group, Inc. (TSX: XNS), the Data to e-Content Company™, today announced that Port infolink has installed the Xenos GoXML real-time data integration solution to improve processing speed and reduce delays in the Port of Rotterdam’s supply chain management system.
Port infolink provides software and logistics support for the most demanding port in the world, the Port of Rotterdam, Holland. From its operation center, Port infolink provides real-time inbound and outbound supply chain management including Barge planning 2.1, Rail planning, Road planning, Customs scan process, Veterinary inspection process, Transit declaration, Vessel notification and Declaration cargo EDI. Port infolink needed a robust, standards-based solution that was scalable, extensible and sufficiently open to integrate with a multi-platform global supply chain infrastructure.
Through integration with the Xenos GoXML solution, Port infolink was able to create a common platform to handle more incoming and outgoing data from transport agents and ship operators. “Over 300 million tons of cargo pass through our port and that translates to a lot of paperwork,” said Bart Roozekrans, managing director at Port infolink. “Port infolink looked to Xenos when we needed a robust, standards-based solution that was scalable, extensible and service-oriented to integrate with a multi-platform global supply chain infrastructure. The Xenos GoXML solution was the logical choice.”
Xenos GoXML provides an intuitive, modular solution for the integration of structured data. At Port infolink, this powerful transformation engine links EDIFACT to XML and an Oracle database enabling future expansion with maximum flexibility and adaptability to multiple data formats.
“An overwhelming 95 percent of the world’s freight travels over the ocean, forming the backbone of the global trade economy,” said Lee Garrison, vice president of marketing at Xenos. “Effective management of ocean transportation involves close coordination and sharing of information between shipping lines, tens of thousands of importers and exporters, and a host of other service providers across the globe. This partnership with Port infolink demonstrates the power of using Xenos GoXML in a real-time supply chain infrastructure to increase efficiency in high-volume environments such as the Port of Rotterdam.”
The Port Community System and the information and communication services it comprises are being developed by Port infolink. The organization is a joint initiative of Rotterdam's port business community, Customs and the Port of Rotterdam. Port infolink targets all links in the logistics chain. About 800 companies are currently already making use of services such as ‘Barge planning 2.1’, ‘Rail planning’, ‘Road planning’, ‘Customs scan process’, ‘Veterinary inspection process’, ‘Transit declaration’, ‘Vessel notification’ and ‘Declaration cargo EDI’. The number of services and participants is set to constantly increase.
