Xenos terminalONE™ Solution to Speed and Streamline Secure, Internet-Based Communications with Doctors, Hospitals and Pharmacies
TORONTO, Ontario, November 30, 2005 - Xenos Group, Inc. (TSX: XNS), a leading provider of solutions that automate the processing and delivery of data and documents, today announced that Norway's National Insurance Administration has selected Xenos terminalONE as a core part of its infrastructure that functions as a supply chain for information flows between the government agency and healthcare providers. The healthcare information supply chain, one of the world's largest ebXML-compliant messaging implementations, guarantees auditable delivery of electronic messages over the Internet to authenticated recipients within Norway's nationalized healthcare system.
The National Insurance Administration has been maintaining a communications infrastructure that relied on expensive X.400 networks and labor-intensive paper-based processes to communicate with hospitals, doctors and pharmacies throughout Norway. Xenos standards-based technology enables secure communications over the Internet and the IP-based Norwegian Healthcare Network. Processing any type of message, EDI, word processing document, spreadsheet, or reimbursements will be far faster, and the overhead costs for maintaining the communications system will be slashed; all with a technology that is completely non-disruptive and that can be implemented without any re-engineering of existing systems.
Substantial cost-savings will accrue to Norway because electronic messages and transactions can now be automatically routed to back-office systems, eliminating the need for paper-based processes such as fax and manual data entry. In addition, all messages can now be easily audited, enabling expedited and cost-effective resolution of any discrepancies which may arise. The end result is that while the National Insurance Administration saves overhead costs, healthcare provider reimbursements are faster and are more accurate.
"By implementing Xenos terminalONE, Norway's National Insurance Administration demonstrates that healthcare can be provided with efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliability," said Stuart Butts, CEO of Xenos. "With this Xenos-based healthcare information supply chain solution, all participants in Norway's nationalized healthcare system can communicate any type of message securely, over the least expensive communications network known to man-the Internet. With the solution, all parties are winners-the government trims overhead, gains auditability and providers' payments are never delayed. And the solution is fully backed by Xenos, a company that has over 20 years of experience delivering scalable and mission-critical solutions."
The National Insurance Scheme (folketrygden), also called the cornerstone of the Norwegian welfare state, provides a number of benefits to the Norwegian population through the National Insurance Service (trygdeetaten). The National Insurance Service is organized under the management of a central Directorate - the National Insurance Administration (Rikstrygdeverket), which runs its operations through its regional and municipal bodies. The National Insurance Administration has overall authority over the Service, and has the power to issue detailed regulations and general recommendations concerning the application of social insurance law. The National Insurance Administration is directly subject to the authority of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs.
