Xenos, a leading provider of solutions that capture, transform, transport
and present electronic data and documents, today announced its highperformance
print stream repurposing software, Xenos d2e (TM)
Vision, now supports the generation of PDF/Archive (PDF/A)
documents.
PDF/A is expected to become the standard PDF archiving format. The
standard’s objective is to ensure long-term preservation and
reproduction of files archived in this format. The format was approved
by the International Standards Organisation (ISO) in September 2005
after being developed and submitted by AIIM International (The
Enterprise Content Management Association) and NPES (The
Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing, and Converting
Technologies).
For over 12 years Xenos has pioneered high performance PDF
solutions for ECM archiving and electronic document distribution and
presentment. With its global customer base, Xenos counts among its
customers some of the world’s largest financial services, insurance,
telecommunications and government organizations.
“Xenos recognizes our major customers’ requirement for support of the
PDF/A format to fulfil their regulatory compliance obligations,” stated
Jeff Williams, Xenos d2e Product Manager. “The addition of support
for this output format in Xenos d2e Vision enables our customers to
ensure the long-term preservation of their documents, including text
and images. Furthermore, it guarantees the reliable presentment of
these documents, regardless of the tools and systems used to create,
archive and view them.”
Jeff Mills, Director of Xenos Europe Ltd. added, “Support for the PDF/A
format is a very significant development, anticipated by our European
customers especially in the banking and insurance sectors, who must
provide a PDF/A archiving process required by regulatory authorities.
In France, for example, this release is especially timely, given the
mandatory requirements of Article 103 of the finance law of 1990 and
Article 14 of the CRBF 97/02 requiring that all credit institutions
archiving PDF documents must store their documents in PDF/A format
by the beginning of 2007.”.
