Xenos JES-Master Plus™
JES2 Productivity Software for the z/OS Environment
Product Overview
JES-Master Plus is a set of productivity software packages for the IBM z/OS environment and is the perfect companion to JES2. This package expands your control over jobs, sysout datasets, printers and initiators.
You may access any job and its sysout datasets from the JES2 spool dataset, including the system log. You can list, hold, requeue, release, cancel or delete the job or a specific sysout dataset within the job. In addition, sysout datasets can be browsed, edited, printed or copied and can have their sysout attributes modified. Exceptional performance is achieved through the use of direct JES2 spool accessing.
You control access by a user to JES-Master functions and JES2 jobs with an installation security exit created using security definition macros. This exit may use the standard security implementation of your installation to make its decisions.
Product Features
Actual ISPF Browse and Edit - You are not required to learn a new set of commands or PF key functions to view a sysout dataset.
Job list summary -See job step return codes and failure messages selectively displayed from the job log. You can quickly spot failures within an application job stream and initiate corrective action.
Job and dataset requeue – Route sysout datasets to a different class or to alternate destinations. You can change number of copies, special forms, character sets and other sysout dataset attributes.
Selective browsing - Choose one or more sysout datasets from a job for a combined presentation. Records can be easily printed or copied to a dataset directly while browsing them.
Job submission – Submit a job for re-execution directly from the job display. Correct errors and rerun a job without locating the original JCL statements.
Output display facility - View and manipulate jobs and datasets that are ready for output. This facility provides an invaluable tool for operators and schedulers who are concerned with the sysout characteristics of output in general, rather than the jobs themselves.
Active job display facility - Display the status of some or all of the jobs currently executing in the system along with overall system performance indicators.
System log display facility - A fast and convenient way to view the active system log dataset. You can issue z/OS or JES2 commands to the system with responses appearing in the system log.
Command facility - Issue commands to the system. This facility displays command responses in a list that you can scroll to view previous responses and over-type to enter new commands. Command responses can also be printed for future review and analysis.
Printer, initiator and job class display facilities - View and control these resources from list displays and modify their characteristics without issuing JES2 commands.
Control block display facility - Display z/OS and JES2 control blocks in hexadecimal and character format. This facility displays data in lists that you can scroll to view previously displayed control blocks and over-type to request that additional control blocks be displayed.
JES-Master Plus Environment
JES-Master Plus products run under the IBM z/OS environment and use the Cancel Status interface to access information from JES2. The JES2 subsystem must be active and HASP Exit 22 enabled.
JM/ISPF is invoked from the ISPF/PDF Primary Option Menu. ISPF Dialog panels provide an interactive interface to powerful features that allow you to view jobs, sysout datasets, initiators and printers. JM/UTIL is run in Batch mode or invoked in TSO command mode.
